Juno Pell Booking from February 2027

Go on, move my name around. Drag a letter, or tab to one and nudge it with the arrow keys (hold Shift for bigger steps).

I design websites and product screens that people can find their way around on the first try.

Freelance web and product designer in Rotterdam. Nine years in, I work with small teams who need one person to take an idea from a messy brief to a tested, handed-off interface.

Selected work

  • Tidewatch

Tide and weather app for a sea-kayaking club, 2026

    The problem
Members were cross-checking three sites before every trip, and two near-misses last season came from misread tide tables.
    What I did
Interviewed eleven paddlers on the beach, then drew one screen that answers "can we go out at 10?" with a single go or wait, and the reasons underneath.
Trip planning down from 20 minutes to 3 Read the Tidewatch case study
  • Korst Bakery

Pre-order website for a neighbourhood sourdough bakery, 2025

    The problem
Loaves sold out by 9am and the owner was taking orders over text messages at 5am, one by one.
    What I did
A pre-order page that shows tomorrow's bake, counts down what's left, and closes itself at 8pm. Built on a template the owner edits on her phone.
Waste down 40% in the first month
  • Halfsies

Shared-expenses web app for housemates, 2025

    The problem
The beta had a dashboard with fourteen widgets. New users opened it, felt they owed someone money, and left.
    What I did
Replaced the dashboard with one line, "You and Ines are square", and a list of recent spends. Rewrote every empty state and error with the support team.
Week-two retention up from 31% to 54% Read the Halfsies case study
  • Quayside Logistics

Berth-scheduling tool for a small inland port, 2024

    The problem
Planners scheduled barges in a shared spreadsheet with colour codes only two people remembered.
    What I did
Sat in the control room for a week, then designed a timeline view where a booking is a block you drag along the quay. Clashes turn red before you let go.
    Double bookings: zero since launch

About

  • Based in Rotterdam, works across Europe
  • Previously at a 40-person agency and a fintech startup
  • Speaks English, Dutch and enough Portuguese to order lunch

I started out laying out a student newspaper and never really stopped thinking about where the eye lands first. These days that eye belongs to someone trying to book a barge berth or split an electricity bill, and my job is to make that take less thought.

I work in short loops: a rough sketch by the end of week one, something clickable by week two, and real people trying it before anything gets polished. I hand off with annotated files and a call with whoever is building it, because a design that survives handoff is the only kind that counts.
